The Half Moon Golf Course, which opened in the early 1960's, is a part of the exclusive Half Moon Resort on the Rose Hall estate in Montego Bay. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, and between 2004 and 2005 Roger Rulewich redesigned and modernised the layout. It is relatively flat with generous fairways, but long and accurate driving is imperative because of strong winds off the sea, with nine holes heading straight into the wind and nine going with the wind.
It is a long well bunkered course ... 7,119 yards from the back tees ...
with fairly large, undulating greens, and it is usually in excellent
condition.
Half Moon has been the venue for many national and international tournaments over the years.
In 2009 at the annual International Association of Golf Tour Operator Awards the Half Moon Resort was voted "The Golf Resort of the Year" in the Rest of the World category.
When you visit Half Moon there are three other top quality courses that you can play in the Montego Bay area ... Cinnamon Hill, The White Witch and Ironshore ... and the world famous Tryall course is not far away. So you are spoilt for choice in the Montego Bay area ... and I recommend them all.
